Information evening on 29 September at the Apfelbaum daycare center
The city of Weiterstadt has announced that it is joining the state of Hesse's WIR project and will train volunteer integration guides . These guides see themselves as bridge builders and support immigrants upon arrival in Weiterstadt. This approach promotes participation, especially where bureaucratic hurdles, limited German language skills, or cultural differences make everyday life difficult.
The training program begins in the fall. On Monday, September 29, 2025, at 6 p.m. , the city will provide information about the program's content, process, and requirements at an information evening at the Apfelbaum daycare center (Kreisstraße 94). Registration is still open, including for individuals with a history of immigration and a good command of German.
Tasks and contents of the qualification
- Accompaniment to offices, authorities and banks
- Support with parent-teacher meetings in daycare centers and schools
- Highlighting educational, leisure and cultural opportunities
- Networking, communication and intercultural skills training
- Understanding of roles in volunteer work as an integration guide
Integration guides trained within the framework of the Hessian WIR program receive an expense allowance .
