Information evening on September 29th at the Apfelbaum daycare center
The city of Weiterstadt has announced that it is joining the WIR project of the state of Hesse and will be training volunteer integration guides . These guides see themselves as bridge builders, supporting immigrants as they settle into life in Weiterstadt. This approach strengthens participation, particularly where bureaucratic hurdles, limited German language skills, or cultural differences make everyday life difficult.
The training program starts in the fall. On Monday, September 29, 2025, at 6 p.m. , the city will hold an information evening at the Apfelbaum daycare center (Kreisstraße 94) to provide details about the content, schedule, and requirements. Registrations are still being accepted, and are expressly encouraged from individuals with a migration background and good German language skills.
Tasks and content of the qualification
- Accompaniment to offices, authorities and banks
- Support for parent-teacher conferences in daycare centers and schools
- Highlighting educational, leisure and cultural opportunities
- Building networks, training in communication and intercultural competence
- Understanding the role of a volunteer as an integration guide
Integration guides trained within the framework of the Hessian WIR program receive compensation .
