The Women's Office celebrates its 40th anniversary with an event and an anniversary brochure
To mark International Women's Day on March 8th, the Women's Office of the City of Darmstadt invites you to a central event entitled "Protecting Feminism – Strengthening Democracy!" The Women's Office will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026.
The event will take place on March 6, 2026 at 4:45 pm in the Justus Liebig House.
Feminism and Democracy in Focus
The central question is how to counter the rise of misogyny and right-wing and anti-democratic positions. Following welcoming remarks from Mayor Barbara Akdeniz and the head of the Women's Office, Edda Feess, Laura Sasse will give a presentation on the topic of antifeminism.
Following this, ideas for the third equality action plan for the science city of Darmstadt will be developed together with the audience.
Anniversary brochure looks back on 40 years
To mark the anniversary, the Women's Office is publishing the brochure "40 Years of the Women's Office of the City of Science Darmstadt – Where do we come from? Where do we want to go?". It traces the development of municipal women's policy in Darmstadt, documents key milestones in gender equality, and highlights current challenges.
In addition, the brochure contains the annual program of the Women's Office for the anniversary year as well as an overview of the events of the Darmstadt Women's Network around International Women's Day.
