City Councilor Wandrey sees great potential for major urban projects
Darmstadt/Berlin -The science city of Darmstadt was represented for the first time this year at the renowned IPA conference, which took place on July 2 in Berlin under the motto "Successful construction projects together". Around 600 specialists and managers from the construction and real estate industry took part in the event, which was organized by the competence center for integrated project processing.
For Darmstadt, traffic director Paul Georg Wandrey , DSE managing director Bernd Neis and Prof. Robert Karnes , head of the mobility and civil engineering office, traveled to the conference.
Integrated project processing as a future model
The focus was on the so -called integrated project processing (IPA) - an innovative model, in which planning and execution are interlinked from the start . The aim is to significantly reduce construction time delays and costs.
"This method is already successfully used in the federal building in major civil and military projects. It also offers great potential for the science city of Darmstadt - for example, for future major projects in the areas of mobility, civil engineering and building construction," said City Councilor Paul Georg Wandrey.
Experiences from the federal building
Prof. Robert Karnes, former head of the Federal Office for Large Projects, brought his many years of experience in dealing with cooperative contract models. He emphasized: "IPA requires a fundamental rethink-away from distrust, towards a 'best for project' approach . This only works with suitable partners and real trust."
DSE managing director Bernd Neis also underlined the chances: Especially in urban construction projects with many participants, IPA could be more efficient and resources could be used better.
Darmstadt is planning the next steps
Participation in the conference was not only an exchange of experiences for the Darmstadt delegation, but also an impulse provider: "We will intensively evaluate the knowledge gained and check how we can use the methodology of the integrated project processing in Darmstadt in the future," said Wandrey.
