Jill Rabenau sees new opportunities for southern Hesse's music scene in international networking.
At the General Assembly of the International Federation of Chopin Societies (IFCS) in Warsaw, Jill Rabenau , President of the Chopin Society in the Federal Republic of Germany, , was newly elected to the Board of Directors of the world federation. The IFCS thus honors the 55th anniversary of the society and the long-standing commitment of its President, who has led the venerable institution since 2024.
Rabenau sees her appointment as a significant opportunity for the regional music scene:
“As a board member of the IFCS, I can give our society a strong voice in the international network,” she emphasizes. “Collaboration at this level opens up new perspectives for future projects.”
The IFCS unites around 40 Chopin societies in 26 countries and promotes the composer's music worldwide through concerts, masterclasses, and competitions . Under the presidency of the Frenchman Antoine Paszkiewicz, the member societies meet annually at different locations, accompanied by a top-class concert program.
The Darmstadt Chopin Society founded in 1970 by the Polish pianist Maciej Łukaszczyk International Chopin Piano Competition – one of the most important of its kind outside Poland.
Jill Rabenau, a native of England, was a teacher in Great Britain before moving to Germany through marriage. She earned a piano diploma from the London College of Music and trained as a church musician. Today, she is also an active pianist in Darmstadt society.
