Johannespassion in the inner city church of St. Ludwig
On March 29, 2025, exactly 300 years after the premiere in 1725, a concert with the Johann Sebastian Bach takes place in St. Ludwig Darmstadt.
The version of 1725 differs from the often heard later version in a few arias and chorales and therefore rarely brings to listening, but all the more exciting parts of the work. Fabian Kelly (Evangelist/Tenor), Michael Roman (Christwort), Rahel Maas (soprano), Julia Diefenbach (Alt) and Johannes Hill (bass) were won as soloists in the performance. The vocal ensemble Darmstadt and the Main Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Jorin Sandau make music.

Already on Saturday, March 22nd at 6 p.m. Ludwig (in the courtyard of Wilhelminenplatz 9) An introduction with Prof. Dr. Ansgar Wucherpfennig SJ and Jorin Sandau. The organizer is the academy of the diocese of Mainz. In addition to a theological and musical introduction, this is primarily about the explosive and current topic of anti -Judaism in Christian tradition.
