Strong performances in Erfurt – youth teams also successful
The Johanniter team from Darmstadt-Dieburg achieved an outstanding second place at the national first aid and emergency rescue competition in Erfurt. In category A (paramedic assistants), the team impressed with their team spirit and expertise. The youth teams also achieved good results: the school first aiders finished seventh, while the group of six- to eleven-year-olds achieved fourth place nationwide.
Competition as part of the “Day of the Order of St. John”
From September 26th to 28th, around 3,000 members of the Order of St. John from all over Germany gathered in Erfurt. The highlight of the weekend was the national competition, in which 54 teams from all regional associations competed against each other in realistically simulated emergency scenarios. They practiced responding to traffic accidents, burns, cardiovascular emergencies, and wound care – all portrayed by professional actors playing the injured. Around 130 judges evaluated the performances.

The Darmstadt-Dieburg regional association was also represented on site with actors portraying injured persons, referees and a section leader.
Joy over the result
Holger Lehr, regional director of the Johanniter in Darmstadt-Dieburg, was pleased:
“We are delighted that one of our teams has made it into the top three nationwide. This result motivates us to participate again in two years and to improve even further.”
Johanniter Day with a diverse program
In addition to the competition, the "Day of the Johanniter" offered an extensive supporting program: a celebratory event to honor deserving members with Thuringia's Minister-President Mario Voigt, as well as numerous training courses.
