Silent wreath laying on 21 September at the Old Cemetery
DARMSTADT – September 21, 2025, marks the 65th anniversary of the death of Julius Reiber . To mark the occasion, the Science City of Darmstadt will lay a wreath at his grave in the Old Cemetery (Herdweg 105).
Reiber served as acting mayor of the city from 1945 to 1946 and played a significant role in Darmstadt's reconstruction in the immediate postwar period. His commitment to education and democracy, , is still highly valued today.
For his services, Julius Reiber received the Grand Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . In Darmstadt, Julius Reiber Street and an oak tree in the Herrngarten commemorate his work.
