Silent wreath-laying ceremony on September 21st at the Old Cemetery
DARMSTADT – September 21, 2025, marks the 65th anniversary of Julius Reiber 's death. On this occasion, the City of Darmstadt will lay a wreath at his grave in the Old Cemetery (Herdweg 105)
Reiber served as acting mayor of the city from 1945 to 1946 and played a key role in Darmstadt's reconstruction in the immediate post-war period. His commitment to education and democracy is still highly regarded today.
For his services, Julius Reiber received the Grand Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In Darmstadt, Julius-Reiber-Straße and an oak tree in the Herrngarten park his work.
