Usedware buyer Kagel starts with a new lighting concept, more overview and space for initiatives
After extensive renovation work, the Kagel User House in Darmstadt opened its doors again on Saturday (May 24th). Together with the Kagel managing directors Orhan Boran and Wolfgang Krause, city treasurer André Schellenberg opened the modernized house, which now comes up with a newly structured children's department, an innovative lighting concept and an additional event area.
Strengthening the circular economy in Darmstadt
"The kagel serves to establish the circular economy in Darmstadt," said Schellenberg. "With a good 40,000 items sold in 2024 and a recycling rate of around 92 percent, the great acceptance of the department store is evident. My thanks go to the many initiatives in Darmstadt that support the idea of recycling - including Heinersleih e. V., Foodsharing e. V., Faircup and the Repaircafés."
Improvements in detail
In the course of the renovation, toys and children's clothing were bundled in a separate, clear department. A new lighting concept brings more brightness to the sales area, which continues to include 800 square meters. In addition, internal processes and storage areas have been optimized in order to be able to work more efficiently.
Also new is an event area that initiatives from Darmstadt is available. It offers space for up to twelve people and is suitable for workshops, meetings or participation offers.
Support by HEAG Mobilo
At the reopening, HEG Mobilo Managing Director Johannes Gregor presented the Kagel a decommissioned electric vehicle. In the future, it will be used for household resolutions and furniture transports.
