55 years of volunteering in the Johanniter accident aid
An impressive anniversary. Klaus Preuss has been active for the Johanniter-Accident Hilfe-Hilfe eV for 55 years. What began in 1970 with a member application that his parents still had to sign developed into an exceptional life performance.
“Klaus is the best example of lived volunteering with tireless efforts, reliability and a large heart for the Johanniter. We are incredibly grateful for his decades of contribution, ”emphasizes Holger Lehr, board member of the Johanniter in the regional association Darmstadt-Dieburg.
Over the years, Klaus Preuss took over numerous responsible tasks. Among other things, he worked as a training manager, finance manager and treasurer. Since 1993 he has been part of the Presidium, which affects the Ground decisions on the association policy of the Johanniter-Ungen-Hilfe-Hilfe EV and decides guidelines for the activities of the Federal Executive Board and the state board members. A year later he was appointed to the volunteer board of the RV Darmstadt-Dieburg. Both positions that he still fills out with great commitment to this day. He received numerous awards for his merits, including the honorary certificate for deserving citizens of the city of Darmstadt and the Federal Cross of Merit in the ribbon.
In addition to the Johannitern, Klaus Preuss has another passion: model building. His commitment is not only limited to his own hobby, he also passes on his knowledge to young people. In 2022 he initiated the "Modellbahn" children's and youth project in the Johanniter office in Griesheim.
As part of this special project, children and young people build a detailed model railway system under their instructions. In doing so, they acquire craftsmanship, technical understanding and learning to work in a team. The project combines fun with educational learning and is now an integral part of Johanniter youth work in the region. It is particularly valuable that the young participants can take responsibility early and bring their own ideas into the design of the system.
