City invites you to help shape sustainable urban development
The city of Griesheim is planning the sustainable development of the "inner city-north" and invites citizens to actively participate. As part of the “Climate Quarters” , which is funded by the state energy agency (Lea) Hesse and the Hessian Ministry of the Environment, measures to adapt to climate and energy efficiency are to be implemented.
On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 6 p.m. there will be a citizens' workshop , in which interested parties can get an insight into the planning and bring in their own ideas. As part of the “Climate Quarters” , Griesheim receives over three years of planning and advisory services , support in the acquisition of funding as well as help in implementing measures for climate protection and climate adaptation .
Planned measures include:
✔ More city green to improve the microclimate
✔ Increasing energy efficiency in buildings
✔ Promotion of renewable energies
The “Downtown North” district is one of 15 Hessian urban areas that have been selected for the program. The area includes:
- North: Sandgasse
- East: Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse
- South: Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße
- West: Schöneweibergasse
The selection was made due to the high degree of sealing , lack of green areas and the late cooling on hot days due to the dense development.
After a first check in September 2024, timetable is currently being developed, which decided by mid-2025 . implementation phase begins , accompanied by further participation formats.
