The city invites residents to participate in shaping sustainable urban development
"Innenstadt-Nord" district and invites citizens to actively participate in shaping the project. As part of the "Climate-Friendly Districts" , funded by the Hessian State Energy Agency (LEA) and the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, measures for climate adaptation and energy efficiency will be implemented.
A public workshop on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 6 p.m. , where interested parties can gain insights into the plans and contribute their own ideas. The city of Griesheim particularly welcomes registrations from local residents, as they will experience the measures directly in their daily lives.

Registration is required and takes place via the participation platform “Griesheim-Gestalten” .
What is the Griesheim Climate Quarter?
"Climate Quarters" project, planning and consulting services , support in acquiring funding , and assistance in implementing climate protection and adaptation measures over three years .
Planned measures include:
✔ More urban green spaces to improve the microclimate
✔ Increased energy efficiency in buildings
✔ Promotion of renewable energies
The "Innenstadt-Nord" district is one of 15 Hessian urban areas selected for the program. The area includes:
- North: Sandgasse
- East: Friedrich-Ebert-Straße
- South: Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße
- West: Schöneweibergasse
The selection was made due to the high degree of sealing , lack of green spaces and the late cooling on hot days due to the dense development.
Following an initial assessment in September 2024, roadmap for action is currently being developed and finalized by mid-2025 . The implementation phase , accompanied by further public participation opportunities.
