The first KU-KI-FEE Festival delights children with film, clowning and culture
first KU-KI-FEE (Culture & Children's Festival) celebrated its successful premiere on August 31st . In cooperation with the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS Darmstadt) and the TIP Theater at the Pädagog, 15 children aged 8 to 12 participated in creative workshops. The highlight of the day was the final performance on the TIP Theater stage.
“With KU-KI-FEE, we have succeeded in playfully introducing children to art and culture and giving them space for creativity and self-confidence. The enthusiasm on stage has shown how important such programs are for our society. The festival would not have been possible without the support of our partners – the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS Darmstadt), TIP Theater, Sparkasse, and the Citizens' Foundation. We are proud of our successful launch and look forward to 2026,” explained Felicitas Göbel , Chairwoman of the association “Reading and Culture for All e.V. Darmstadt .”
With camera and creativity
In the "Filmmaking" workshop, the children were introduced to the world of cameras, composition, and editing for the first time. Under the theme "huge and tiny," they realized their own film ideas and experimented with perspectives and camera tricks. The intros and outros with overlays, which some groups developed independently, were particularly creative. The short films were then presented at the TIP Theater. "The KuKiFe festival has shown just how much creative energy children possess – when given the right spaces and inspiration," said Andreas Noack of Noack Media Production.
Clowning and acrobatics
A second workshop was led by circus educator Andreas Funk . Through somersaults, lifts, small pyramids, and elements of clowning, the children playfully learned to combine acrobatics and humor. The result delighted the audience at the final performance.
Even offstage, there was a festival atmosphere: club members created a friendly, family-like ambiance with cakes and pastries. The project was supported by Sparkasse Darmstadt and the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation.
Outlook for 2026
The next KU-KI-FEE has already been scheduled: On October 9th and 10th, 2026, the festival will once again take place at the TIP – with additional workshops such as creative writing, pantomime and dance.
