Discussion with art experts on June 5 / Guitar concert on June 6 / Preview of a piano recital with Steffen Schleiermacher
The exhibition "Burned In: Painting, Poetry and New Music from the GDR" on display until June 29, 2025. you to an evening discussion with prominent figures from the East German art scene Wednesday, June 5 , at 7 p.m.
The director of the Kunsthalle and curator of the exhibition, Dr. León Krempel , will speak with cultural historian Hans-Peter Lühr , art historian Christoph Tannert , and painter Hubertus Giebe , whose works are featured in the exhibition. Also participating is writer Kurt Drawert , who was born in East Germany and now lives in Darmstadt. He curated the poetry section of the exhibition. The evening's topic is the cultural awakening of the 1980s in East Germany . Regular exhibition admission prices apply to this event.
Just one day later, on Friday, June 6 , the Kunsthalle invites to the final evening of the "First Friday" before the summer break 8 p.m. Academy of Music, four students from the guitar classes, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Tilman Hoppstock and Jesse Flowers, will present works by Johann Sebastian Bach , Tilman Hoppstock , Dionisio Aguado , and Leo Brouwer . Admission is free.
Preview: On Wednesday, June 19th a moderated piano recital with composer Steffen Schleiermacher will take place at 7 pm .
