VSR-Gewässerschutz will be offering analyses at the fairground on September 24th
The mobile laboratory of VSR-Gewässerschutz e. V. at the fairground on Pestalozzistraße in Riedstadt-Goddelau on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Well owners can submit their water samples between 9 and 11 a.m.
Already, 164 analyses in Groß-Gerau have shown that one in four samples is only partially suitable for garden irrigation. To ensure that residents of Riedstadt also have certainty about the quality of their water, Milan Toups is conducting basic on-site tests for nitrate, acidity, and salinity. The participation fee is twelve euros. Additional tests – for example, to assess suitability for vegetable gardens, paddling pools, or ponds – are available for an extra charge.
For meaningful results, the VSR-Gewässerschutz (Association for the Protection of Water Resources) recommends bringing samples in 0.5-liter plastic mineral water bottles filled to the brim . The reports will then be sent to participants by mail.
Sustainable water management is the focus
At the information booth, volunteer Georg Stüker the importance of allowing rainwater to seep into the ground in the garden to replenish groundwater reserves.
