Replacement plantings with climate-friendly species already planned
rowan trees along Frankfurter Straße between Nordring and Annastraße in Groß-Gerau will have to be felled in the coming days. An investigation by the city's Parks and Recreation Department has revealed that the trees are heavily infested with a wood-destroying fungus. A large amount of deadwood was also discovered – both of which significantly impair their stability and pose a risk to pedestrians and traffic.
"The safety of our citizens is our highest priority," the city administration emphasizes. Therefore, the felling of the affected trees is unavoidable.
Replacement plantings planned
To preserve the cityscape and strengthen its green infrastructure, the city will soon plant new trees . The trees will be resilient and climate-friendly, better adapted to urban conditions.
During the work, there may be temporary traffic disruptions. The city asks residents and road users for their understanding.
