The Darmstadt Natural Science Association invites you to a lecture by Prof. Albrecht Beutelspacher on October 15th
Darmstadt – The Darmstadt Natural Science Association (NWV) invites you to a public lecture at the Hessian State Museum on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The guest speaker is the renowned mathematician Prof. Albrecht Beutelspacher , founder and director of the Mathematikum in Giessen. Under the title "Infinity – Unimaginable or Essential for Life?", he will explore the fascination of infinity – a topic that plays a significant role in both everyday life and mathematics – starting at 6:00 p.m.
Doors open at 5:30 pm, and admission is free.
Infinity as a thought experiment
The lecture explores the question of whether infinity "exists" and what the consequences would be if humans were unable to conceive of it. Using astonishing experiments, Beutelspacher demonstrates how the perspective of infinity leads to new insights and far surpasses our current experience.
