Enno Stiller talks about elegant predators of the seas
The Darmstadt Natural Science Association to a public lecture on sharks at the Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. The speaker for the evening is Enno Stiller , Chairman of the German Elasmobranch Society.
The lecture begins at 6 p.m. , doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free .
Evolution, myths and threats to sharks
In his presentation, Enno Stiller discusses the evolution of sharks , their central role in the oceans , and widespread myths surrounding this group of animals. He also introduces lesser-known shark species that are often overlooked in the public eye.
Another focus is on the current threats facing sharks worldwide. The speaker explains why this group of animals is now among the most endangered species and what measures are necessary protection and conservation
In addition to sound information, the evening offers visual materials and short film sequences that provide additional insights and vividly complement the lecture.
Speaker with scientific and practical experience
Enno Stiller has been scientifically and voluntarily involved in the conservation of sharks, rays, and chimaeras . He is also an active freediver , diving for several minutes on a single breath, which gives him unique insights into the animals' underwater behavior.
