Weiterstadt network grows – support for children on their way to school
In Gräfenhausen, there is a new contact point for children in distress: The Grafenapotheke pharmacy , Darmstädter Landstraße 51, is now part of the LEON Help Islands . This means that in this area, there is now an easily accessible public place to help children who feel unsafe or need support – for example, because they have missed the bus or their mobile phone battery is dead.
LEON project strengthens safety on the way to school
Every day, many children – alone or with their parents – pass the pharmacy on their way to primary school or sports facilities. Pharmacist Ebrahim Fallehy and his team want to actively contribute to making children feel safe in their surroundings:
"We are delighted to be part of this project," says employee Nina Schäfer .
LEON help stations are easily identifiable by a clearly visible poster featuring the lion LEON. This helps children know where to find quick help in unpleasant or stressful situations.
Cooperation between police and municipalities
The project is a collaboration between the Hessian police and numerous municipalities , 36 shops, daycare centers, pharmacies, and other institutions are currently participating in the network – in the town center as well as in all districts. The goal is to offer children a safe haven, promote self-confidence and civic courage , and strengthen families' sense of security.
