Left-back joins Austrian first division club Grazer AK permanently after loan spell
Leon Klassen will play permanently for Grazer AK in the future. SV Darmstadt 98 and the Austrian first division club have agreed on a permanent transfer for the 26-year-old left-back.
Klassen was already on loan for the Graz club in the second half of last season and will now remain in Austria long-term.
“We spoke openly with Leon about his prospects and his chances of regular playing time in the upcoming season and agreed that a transfer was the best solution,” explains Lilien sporting director Paul Fernie.
Grazer AK had already signaled their interest in further cooperation early on, based on the player's performances. "Now we have found a solution that is satisfactory for all parties. We wish Leon every success in Austria," Fernie continued.
Klassen moved to SV 98 from the Danish club Lyngby BK in July 2025. The left-footed player made a total of five competitive appearances for SV 98.
In January 2026, Klassen moved to Grazer AK on loan. There, he made 15 appearances in the second half of the season and convinced the Austrian first division club to sign him permanently.
