As the Darmstadt Lions Clubs announce, this year's Advent calendar will again support social projects for children and young people in Darmstadt and the surrounding region. The fundraising campaign is taking place for the fifteenth time and is organized by the five Darmstadt Lions Clubs and the Leos youth organization.

A total of 550 prizes with a combined value of approximately 30,000 euros are up for grabs – including restaurant, hotel, and shopping vouchers, as well as offers in the fitness and beauty sectors.
This year's calendar image features the Old Town Hall on the market square, designed by Darmstadt illustrator Christoph Grundmann. The pictures for the advent calendar doors were created by children from the Viktoria School.
Opening ceremony in the market square
The kick-off event takes place on Saturday, October 25th, at 12 noon in the market square in front of the Henschel Passage. Mayor Barbara Akdeniz is the patron of the campaign. Only at the start of sales will the "Mathildenhöhe" picture sheet be included as a bonus. In addition, every tenth Advent calendar will be supplemented with a cut-out of the Old Town Hall, donated by the Darmstadtia local history society.
Support for regional education and health projects
The proceeds from this campaign will benefit children and young people from socially disadvantaged families as well as children with a migration background. Among other things, the following will be supported:
– Reading promotion and language development through projects at the Ursula-Fuchs-School, the Schiller School in Griesheim, and in Darmstadt daycare centers
– Swimming lessons and exercise programs to enable refugee children to earn their "Seahorse"
– Health education through the "Class 2000" prevention program
– School route safety through additional markings of the "Little Griesheimer"
The Lions emphasize that the activities are intended to bring joy, guidance, developmental opportunities, and greater self-confidence to children. Purchasing the calendar offers a combination of supporting local communities and a chance to win prizes.
