Cooperation with 1. GCG for more safety at carnival events
The Women's Office of the city of Griesheim, together with the 1st Griesheim Carnival Society (GCG), is launching the campaign "Luisa is here". The premiere is on Thursday, February 12th, at southern Hesse's largest women's carnival party in the float hall.
Low-threshold help in unpleasant situations
“Women and girls often experience situations while celebrating in which they feel harassed or pressured. The ‘Luisa is here’ campaign provides quick and discreet help to those affected,” explains Natalia Herold, women’s representative of the city of Griesheim.
Florian Brech, Chairman of the 1st GCG, emphasizes: "It is important to us that all people can celebrate in a safe environment at our events."
The campaign is intended to remain present in Griesheim even after the carnival season. Plans are in place to involve further venues and institutions and raise awareness of the offerings.
Background to the campaign “Luisa is here”
The initiative was launched in 2016 by the women's emergency hotline Münster e. V. in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its aim is to take a stand against sexualized violence and to provide uncomplicated support in public spaces and the party scene.
More than 500 venues and institutions across Germany are now participating in the campaign.
The principle is simple: If women or girls feel uncomfortable, harassed, or pressured, they can discreetly ask staff for support by asking, "Is Luisa here?" Trained staff will respond and offer assistance.
