Rally and installation on Friedensplatz on 5 October – under the patronage of Mayor Hanno Benz
The German-Israeli Society (DIG), Darmstadt Working Group memorial event at Friedensplatz on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The occasion is the second anniversary of the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023 , in which more than 1,200 Israelis were murdered, injured, or abducted.
Event program
- 2:00 PM: Start of the installation with introduction
- 5:30 p.m.: Central rally
The DIG states that the event is intended to send “a strong signal of solidarity with Israel and the Jewish community, as well as a clear message against terror, anti-Semitism and all forms of Jew-hatred.”
Patronage underlines importance
Under the patronage of Mayor Hanno Benz, the rally will also focus on the current situation, according to the organizers. Philip Krämer, chairman of the Darmstadt DIG (Denmark's Joint Task Force), emphasized:
"Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Israeli hostages, including German citizens, are still being held by Hamas under the most gruesome conditions. We must not remain silent, but raise our voices for their release."
Broad support from partner organizations
The commemoration event is being held jointly with the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Darmstadt eV , the Stolpersteine Darmstadt Working Group , the Science City of Darmstadt , the Friends of the Liberal Synagogue Darmstadt eV and the Jewish Community of Darmstadt .
The German-Israeli Society expressly invites all citizens to participate in order to send a clear signal for solidarity, humanity, and against anti-Semitism.
