New offer makes it easier for schools and kindergartens to visit the theater
School and kindergarten groups from the Darmstadt-Dieburg district and the surrounding region can now travel Moller Haus Theater Merck Theater Bus , which transports children and accompanying adults free of charge and without transfers from their school or kindergarten within a 25-kilometer radius directly to the theater. This service can be used when booking group tickets, subject to availability.
Relief for schools and daycare centers
“Especially for children’s groups outside of Darmstadt, the journey is often a major hurdle,” explains Kristina Werner , Managing Director for Children’s and Youth Culture at the Moller Haus Theater. “Many performances have therefore had to be moved to gymnasiums or school halls. But a true theater experience only happens on site – the Merck Theater Bus helps to overcome this barrier.”
In addition to logistical simplification, the new service also offers a solution for educational institutions suffering from a shortage of qualified staff and high rates of absenteeism. "Arrival becomes easier, even with fewer accompanying persons, without jeopardizing the tight schedule of breakfast, lunch, and homework supervision," Werner continued.
Cultural participation for all children
Merck sees the cooperation as an opportunity to promote cultural education. Matthias Bürk , site manager of Merck in Darmstadt, emphasizes: “We regularly support programs in the areas of science, sports, and culture. The Merck theater bus is a fantastic addition, as it enables children to participate regardless of their financial background and opens up the world of theater to them.”
