Musical encounter between Tango and Baroque on June 29th in the Christuskirche Eberstadt
On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the Darmstadt concert choir invites you to an extraordinary concert in the Christuskirche in Darmstadt-Eberstadt at 7 p.m. Under the title "Misa Tango", the program is on the program in terms of sound and stylistically - a musical bridge between South American tango and European baroque music.
The focus of the evening is the "Misa a Buenos Aires" by Martín Palmeri - also known as "Misa Tango". The work combines the traditional Latin measuring liturgy with the rhythms and harmonies of the Tango Nuevo and stylistically attaches to the sound language Astor Piazzollas.
The Darmstadt concert choir is accompanied by the renowned ensemble Tango Sí!, That brings the characteristic sound world of Argentina to life with Bandoneon, piano, stroking and singing. The seven musicians have many years of tango experience, including through study visits to Buenos Aires and Paris. In addition to the fair, instrumental pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Julián Plaza are listed.
Johann Sebastian Bach's festive motet "Praise the Lord, all Heiden" and a choir arrangement of a Piazzolla song offers the exciting musical contrast. The concert promises impressive stylistic diversity and a moving evening between continents, cultures and centuries.
The Darmstadt concert choir is known for its stylistic openness - from classic church music to swing and modern choral literature.
