Family center expands support from 2026
The family center in the city of Darmstadt is expanding its services for families whose pregnancies did not end happily. Since January 2026, there has been an open support group for mothers of stillborn children. Starting March 14th, the services will be further enhanced with a special postpartum recovery course.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes that the new formats send an important signal and meaningfully complement existing support services during this sensitive phase of life.
Open discussion group on Frankfurter Straße
The safe space of the support group offers mothers the opportunity to talk about their experiences with others who have gone through similar situations. Sharing experiences with women who have had similar losses can help in processing the grief. All mothers are welcome – regardless of how far along the pregnancy was or how long ago the event occurred.
The discussion group meets at Frankfurter Straße 71. Ten sessions are planned for the first half of 2026, and new members can join at any time. There is a course fee of three euros per session. Further information is available at www.familienbildung-darmstadt.de under course number 126-103-00. The contact person is Anna-Katharina Klein.
Postnatal recovery course specifically for affected mothers
Additionally, a postpartum recovery course will start on March 14th, exclusively for mothers of stillborn babies. The focus will be on strengthening the core and pelvic floor muscles, as well as a gentle return to physical activity.
The course takes place on six Saturdays at Oberstraße 13 in Eberstadt. The course fee is €86. Information and dates are also available at www.familienbildung-darmstadt.de under course number 126-922-01.
With these new services, the family center closes a previously existing gap in the support provided to affected mothers and expands its support network in Darmstadt.
