Prevention against accidents and noise pollution / police South Hesse calls for caution and consideration
At the beginning of the 2025 motorcycle season, the South Hesse police headquarters appeals to the personal responsibility of all motorcyclists. The aim is to avoid accidents, reduce noise pollution and raise awareness of traffic safety. The police stipulate: excessive speed, too little distance and disregard for traffic rules are the main causes of serious motorcycle accidents in the region.
Security begins with technology and equipment
For a safe start, the police recommend a thorough check of the machine after the winter break, especially brakes, lighting and tires. Protective clothing including helmet, gloves, protectors and striking reflectors is part of the standard equipment. If you had longer breaks, you should do security training.
Behavior in road traffic: drive forward and defensively
- Always switch on the driving light
- Announcement of overtaking maneuvers early
- Do not cut curves
- Brake particularly carefully when wet
- In groups: drive offset, keep your distance, no overtake among each other
The consideration of residents along popular routes is also crucial: Avoiding unnecessary noise pollution from manipulated silencers and aggressive driving behavior is a contribution to the cooperation.
Call for first aid and awareness of dangers
Motorcycle accidents often have serious consequences-a refreshed first aid course can save lives. In addition, the police provide information about planned biker-safe tours in southern Hesse. The focus on these tours accompanied by police motorcycles are dangerous points, noise avoidance and first aid at the scene of the accident.
Accompanying measures: controls and prevention work
The police announce regular controls of the speed and technical condition of the motorcycles. Violations of noise protection and road traffic regulations can lead to ensuring vehicles and driving bans.
The police and registration offices work closely together to further sensitize: novice drivers receive prevention material when registering their motorcycles.
Information and campaign
In 2025 motorcycle racers Marcel Schrötter also supported the Hessian police's prevention campaign with the slogan:
"You have it in your hand - leave nothing to the accident when biking."
