Exercise opportunities for all generations – EU LEADER program supports project
Reinheim-Georgenhausen. After an intensive planning and coordination phase, the new multi-generational playground at the Georgenhausen Leisure Center officially opened. Located directly adjacent to the boules court and soccer field, a place was created where exercise, socializing, and health are the focus.
The project was implemented with support from the EU LEADER funding program , which covered approximately 60 percent of the total costs (€9,900) . The program's goal is to promote sustainable development projects in rural areas.
From idea to implementation
Planning began in June 2024 Mayor Manuel Feick and Patrick Schmid from the municipal building department. The funding application was submitted in October 2024 and approved in December 2024 .
Following a tender and bid evaluation, the contract was awarded in July 2025. Installation was then carried out by the municipal construction department , which began work in early September. On September 16, 2025, Anne Wagner confirmed the proper completion of the facility.
Movement for all generations
The new exercise facility consists of three devices:
- Leg trainer
- shoulder trainer
- balancing device
The space thus offers residents the opportunity close to home and free of charge . After the concrete had completely dried, the facility was opened – and enthusiastically tested at the inauguration.
Promoting movement and community
Mayor Manuel Feick emphasized the importance of the project for social and health coexistence:
"With this new facility, we are creating another attractive opportunity for exercise and socializing in Reinheim – in close proximity to the soccer field, boules court, and playground. We have thus succeeded in creating an exercise space for all generations. My thanks go to the district's LEADER representatives, whose support made this project possible."
The multi-generational playground complements the existing leisure activities in Georgenhausen and is a further step by the city of Reinheim to create meeting places for exercise and encounters close to home.
