Break down prejudices and strengthen mental health through movement, encounters and openness
The MUT-TOUR returns in 2025 – once again sending a powerful message of openness in dealing with mental illness. From May 24th to September 6th, teams of participants will travel throughout Germany, using physical activity, exchange, and public awareness campaigns to highlight the issue of depression. The tour combines athletic activity with social commitment and personal courage.
Stopover in Groß-Gerau: Action day at the outdoor swimming pool
On July 9, 2025, the MUT-TOUR team stopped in Groß-Gerau . An event day took place at the municipal outdoor swimming pool , themed "Mental Health in Motion." Interactive games and activities introduced visitors to the topic of depression in an accessible way.
Despite the changeable weather, the atmosphere was positive: The welcome from the self-help office of the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband (Parity Welfare Association ) and the movement coordinator of the Groß-Gerau district was warm. Participants camped in tents directly on the grounds of the outdoor swimming pool.
On July 10th, continued towards Mainz with a carpooling event accompanied by the ADFC , where another day of action was on the agenda.
Using the tandem against stigmatization – self-help in motion
The MUT-TOUR focuses on people with and without lived experience of depression who embark on a journey together. On tandem bicycles and on foot, they cover over 4,000 kilometers across Germany – this year under the motto "Self-Help in Motion ." The aim is to raise awareness of mental health and reduce barriers to dealing with depression through conversations, events, and public campaigns.
The sponsoring association Mut fördern e. V. has been organizing the nationwide tour since 2012. In 2025, around 75 participants over a total of 15 stages – accompanied by another 400 fellow travelers and hikers .

A special feature is the MUT-ATLAS , which provides online guidance through the diverse range of mental health support services. An interactive map shows contact points nationwide for those affected, their families, and professionals – from therapy and self-help groups to housing.
