Cooperation is proving effective – further action planned for December 7th
As the City of Darmstadt reports, the municipal services department (EAD) and NABU Darmstadt have drawn a positive conclusion from their joint litter collection campaigns at the end of the year. Since the start of the cooperation and the three regular events held around World Cleanup Day, a total of 370 kilograms of litter have been collected. 260 kilograms were collected on the day of the event alone. On average, 50 to 60 kilograms are collected at each event, including bulky items such as furniture or an old wheelbarrow.
Joint commitment to a clean city
The first joint litter collection event took place on World Cleanup Day, September 20th. Since then, NABU members have regularly contributed to cleaning the city. The EAD (Waste Management Authority) provides support with materials such as grabbers and garbage bags and then collects the collected waste from the respective locations.
Next appointment on December 7th.
Those interested can participate in the next litter collection event on Sunday, December 7th. The meeting point is at 1 p.m. at the Willy-Brandt-Platz bus stop in Darmstadt.
