Sirens, warning apps and cell broadcast are being tested
The nationwide warning day will take place again on Thursday, September 11, 2025. As every year, it will be held on the second Thursday in September. The aim is to test the various warning methods for alerting the population and to raise awareness of warning signals and their meaning.
A nationwide test alarm will be triggered at 11:00 AM. Various warning methods will be used:
- Warning apps like HessenWARN and NINA
- Cell Broadcast – Warning messages directly to your mobile phone
- Reports via radio and television
- Sirens that are triggered by the control centers
In districts where new sirens have recently been installed, the test alarm may be heard for the first time and may sound unusual. This is expressly a planned test, not a real emergency.
The nationwide warning day serves solely to test the functionality of the warning systems and to familiarize the public with the warning procedure. It is part of a comprehensive fire and disaster protection concept.
