Children's athletics competition on 31 August as a framework for the opening
sports park on Sunday, August 31, 2025. The inauguration will take place as part of the 3rd Groß-Gerau District Children's Athletics Competition. Mayor Marc Friedrich (independent) emphasizes the importance of modern sports facilities: "Motivated children and young people in club sports are the foundation for success in elite sports. That's why we consciously decided to make this investment."
The new sports park offers a wide range of competition and training opportunities for track and field, soccer, and American football. These include:
- four circular tracks (400 m)
- six sprint and hurdle tracks (110 m)
- Facilities for high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus, javelin and shot put
- Players' changing rooms, spectator surrounds and storage areas for mobile goals
Existing facilities such as the large playing field and the grandstand were integrated into the concept. In addition, the facility includes several grass and artificial turf pitches, as well as a curling rink.
The construction work was carried out by Heiler GmbH & Co. KG. "This investment represents a major effort for our community, but also an important contribution to health, sports, and social cohesion," said Mayor Friedrich.
The official opening will take place during a break in the children's athletics competition. "The sports park is used by all generations, but particularly intensively by children and young people," explains Manfred Gescheidle, the municipality's sports director.
With this modern facility, Nauheim is not only creating new training opportunities but also a social meeting place. "The sports park is a space for exercise and socializing that brings people together and motivates people beyond Nauheim's borders to be active," Friedrich summarizes.
