Ingenieurbüro Grassl receives a contract - bridge demolition for 2027 planned
The planning for the new construction of the Rheinstrasse bridge is progressing quickly. As the science city of Darmstadt reports in the current quarter report, the engineering office Grassl from Stuttgart has been awarded the contract for planning performance in the field of constructive engineering and structural planning . The office is considered to be experienced in bridge construction and is particularly familiar with the proposed feed process for positioning the new bridge.
Planning start with a clear goal: bridge demolition from 2027
The planning start ("kick-off") with the engineering office Grassl has already taken place. The following next steps have been agreed:
- Training into the previous advance work
- Creation of an appointment for planning services
- Start of design planning for the new bridge structure
- Development of a concept for the demolition of the existing bridge
The aim is to demolish the current bridge in 2027 and to implement the new building on schedule.
Change application in the planning approval process is running
A change application for the customized construction is currently being prepared as part of the existing planning approval process. The necessary documents are to be transmitted to the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Affairs third quarter of 2025
City councilor Paul Georg Wandrey emphasizes:
"I am very satisfied with the current progress. The project is on schedule and we are ready to tear down the bridge in 2027. By the maximum decoupling of other actors, we create the greatest possible reliability for citizens."
