The festival program in Groß-Gerau is taking shape
The program for the Volk im Schloss continues to fill out: At the beginning of the year, it was confirmed that New Model Army, one of the most influential bands in the alternative music scene, will perform in the courtyard of Dornberg Castle The festival will take place from August 21st to 23rd, 2026.
Legendary band with attitude and energy
New Model Army was founded in Bradford, England, in 1980 and has been one of the most influential bands in the post-punk, folk-rock, and gothic genres for decades. Frontman Justin Sullivan and his bandmates are known for their uncompromising authenticity, high-energy live performances, and socially conscious lyrics. Albums such as * Between Dog and Wolf* , * Between Wine and Blood *, * Winter* , and most recently *Unbroken* have garnered the band considerable acclaim in recent years. Their concerts in Germany regularly sell out.
At the performance in Groß-Gerau, visitors can look forward to both current songs and classics such as 51st State , Vagabonds and Purity .

In addition to New Model Army's performance, another high-profile show is scheduled for Friday at the festival. The name of the act will be announced in mid-March.
Over three days, Volk im Schloss will once again offer a diverse mix of cross-genre events. Planned activities include street theater, classical theater, children's programs and concerts, interactive activities, cabaret and comedy, as well as performances by international, national, and regional musical acts. Well-known artists will draw large crowds, while regional artists will have the opportunity to perform before a large audience.
Children's program and regional culture firmly established
There will again be a comprehensive children's program in 2026. The cabaret conference and a performance by the BüchnerBühne Riedstadt are integral parts of the festival, as are other regional and national artists. Further program details will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
One key feature remains unchanged: admission to all events is free. Volk im Schloss sees itself as an open cultural meeting place, accessible to all people regardless of income, origin, appearance, language, or lifestyle.

"Volk im Schloss" (People in the Castle) takes place as part of the South Hesse Cultural Summer . The festival is funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art and supported by the Savings Banks Cultural Foundation of Hesse and Thuringia .
