The Diaconal Service and the City of Darmstadt are preparing people for voluntary work
A new training course for volunteer senior citizen companions and liaisons on October 22, 2025. It is offered by the Diaconal Service Darmstadt-Dieburg in cooperation with the City of Darmstadt, Social Services and Counseling Center . The course runs until November 26, 2025 , and generally takes place on Wednesday mornings at the Regional Diaconal Service's offices in the Lincoln Settlement. It will be supplemented by four additional sessions.
Since 2004, this course has prepared people to accompany elderly citizens – whether to appointments with authorities or in everyday situations. In nine varied sessions, an experienced instructor imparts sound knowledge about aging and provides practical advice for the visiting service.
The tasks range from having coffee together or going for walks to providing support with forms and dealing with authorities . The aim is to enable older people to have a better quality of life and participate more fully in society.
Participation is free of charge . The assignments are arranged through the City of Darmstadt, on whose behalf the volunteers work.
Those interested can find out more and register in a personal consultation with the Diaconal Service Darmstadt-Dieburg :
