Successful musical start to the year with the new mayor
The town of Weiterstadt welcomed around 400 guests to its traditional New Year's concert at the community center on January 4th. The event was also the first cultural event organized by the new mayor, Niklas Gehnich , who opened the concert, thus setting a traditional tone for the start of the year.
“Culture is an important part of our social life and creates opportunities for encounters and exchange. I am very pleased to be able to open such an established and popular format with the New Year's Concert – a wonderful musical start to the new year,” Gehnich emphasized in his opening address.
“Hofburg meets Hollywood” at the community center
Under the experienced direction of Witolf Werner , who delighted audiences last year, the concert once again promised a festive and atmospheric musical experience. The renowned Johann Strauss Orchestra Frankfurt the musical program under the motto "Hofburg meets Hollywood".
The ensemble was founded in 1986 by Günther Gräf and consists mainly of musicians from the opera houses in the Rhine-Main area.
Enthusiasm despite technical limitations
Due to a sudden heating malfunction, the concert hall could not be heated as planned. However, the audience was undeterred and, bundled up in warm jackets, enjoyed the concert with great enthusiasm. The musicians delivered a captivating performance and were rewarded with sustained applause.
Notice regarding lost and found items and outlook
The city of Weiterstadt would like to inform visitors that some lost and found items were left in the cloakroom area. These items have now been handed over to the city's lost and found office and can be collected there.
The city and the orchestra are already looking ahead: Initial considerations for a joint date for the New Year's concert in 2027 are already underway.
