Progress is being made on the planned reconstruction of the Zeller Bridge Hessen Mobil awarded the contract to the joint venture of Eiffage Infra-Süd and Eiffage Infra-West Darmstadt Rhine-Main-Neckar Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) welcomes the anticipated construction period of approximately one year .
“ The Odenwald pace, which the Transport Minister has proclaimed, will continue, ” commented Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Christian Jöst on the awarding of the construction contract. After the Zeller Bridge was demolished just a few months after its closure, the contract for the new bridge was awarded even before the deadline for bids. According to a statement from the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs, preparatory construction work is scheduled to begin as early as spring 2026 .

“The timeline aligns with our demand: new construction in record time ,” Jöst continued. With the targeted construction period of approximately one year, businesses and commuters once again have a reliable outlook . Despite the continuing difficult situation for companies and employees, this news is therefore positive. In addition to the timeline, Hessen Mobil's ongoing communication contributes to facilitating planning for businesses and residents.
Appeal to politicians and administrators
For 2026, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) appeals to all parties involved to maintain their pragmatic cooperation in order to implement the replacement building as quickly as possible. "The disruptive situation must not last a day longer than necessary ," emphasizes Jöst. The goal must be to minimize economic region of southern Hesse
Bridge renovation as an ongoing task
At the same time, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) sees the Zeller Bridge as a fundamental issue: " The Zeller Bridge is everywhere ," says Jöst. Hessen Mobil manages 675 bridges , more than half of them on federal highways . The maintenance and renovation of these structures must be addressed urgently and systematically. "We need clear renovation schedules and clear priorities to ensure the long-term competitiveness of our business location."
