Giftbringer collects donations for the Children's Palliative Care Team of Southern Hesse
As the town of Riedstadt, known for its connection to the author Büchner, reports, St. Nicholas made an unusual and festive appearance at the Pfiffikus daycare center in Goddelau: Instead of a traditional carriage or sleigh, he chose a festively decorated motorcycle, complete with a helmet and Santa hat. He then distributed lovingly prepared St. Nicholas bags to each child in the center's outdoor area.
Joy for the children – and a musical thank you
After Saint Nicholas had handed out the gifts, the children sang the song "In the Christmas Bakery" and presented him with a handmade bag filled with collected nuts. The young visitors were delighted and surprised.
“Riding Santas South Hesse” are collecting donations
Behind the motorcycle helmet was Frank Steinbrech, a member of the private motorcycle group "Riding Santas South Hesse." The group has been collecting donations for the South Hesse Children's Palliative Care Team since 2019. "
It was important to me to know exactly where the donations go. One hundred percent of all donations go to the Children's Palliative Care Team," said Steinbrech. The kindergarten's parents' council initiated the campaign. Flyers were distributed beforehand, ensuring that Santa's donation box was quite full by the end.
Advent atmosphere in the daycare center
The anticipation of Christmas is clearly palpable inside the building as well. This is partly due to a tree donation from the Toom hardware store in Goddelau, which is supporting the daycare center again this year.
