Concert with cantatas and organ works in St. Josef on 1 November
Impressive cantatas and organ works from the North German Baroque period St. Joseph's Church on Saturday, November 1, 2025 , at 7:30 p.m. Under the motto "For you alone, Lord, help me," the concert invites you to a musical evening prayer for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
The program combines well-known and rarely heard works from one of Northern Germany's most significant musical eras. Among them are Dietrich Buxtehude's cantata "Alles, was ihr tut" (Everything You Do) , Nicolaus Bruhns' "Ich liege und Schlafe ganz in Frieden" (I Lie and Sleep Completely in Peace) , Martin Jahn's "Blessed Are the Dead," and Vincent Lübeck's "Ich hab' hier wenig guter Tag" (I Have Not Had a Good Day Here) . The concert will be complemented by organ works by North German masters.
The musical direction is by Regional Cantor Dan Zerfaß , cathedral organist at Worms Cathedral, who will perform the concert together with the collegium vocale and the collegium instrumentale . The organ will be played by Regional Cantor Gregor Knop , who studied church music and organ in Freiburg and Mainz and supplemented his training with numerous master classes.
The soloists are Sonja Haub (soprano) , Jörn Peuser (alto) , Nikolas Groth (tenor) and Micha Zerfaß (bass) .
