Concert with cantatas and organ works in St. Josef on November 1st
St. Joseph's Church, impressive cantatas and organ works of the North German Baroque will be performed on Saturday, November 1, 2025 , at 7:30 p.m. Under the motto "For You alone, Lord, help me," the concert invites you to a musical evening service for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
The program unites well-known and rarely heard works from one of the most significant musical periods in Northern Germany. Among others, the program includes Dietrich Buxtehude's cantata "Alles, was ihr tut" (All that you do) , Nicolaus Bruhns' "Ich liege und schlafe ganz in Frieden" (I lie and sleep completely in peace) , Martin Jahn's "Selig sind die Toten" (Blessed are the dead) , and Vincent Lübeck's "Ich hab' hier wenig guter Tag" (I have had little good day here) . The concert is complemented by organ works from other North German masters.
The musical direction is in the hands of Regional Cantor Dan Zerfaß , Cathedral Organist at Worms Cathedral, who will perform the concert together with the Collegium Vocale and the Collegium Instrumentale Regional Cantor Gregor Knop , who studied church music and organ in Freiburg and Mainz and furthered his training through numerous masterclasses, will play the organ
The soloists are Sonja Haub (soprano) , Jörn Peuser (alto) , Nikolas Groth (tenor) and Micha Zerfaß (bass) .
The St. Joseph and St. George Church Music Working Group thanks the Dotter Foundation and the Catholic Life Eberstadt Association for their support of the concert.
The venue is St. Joseph's Church , Gabelsbergerstraße, Darmstadt-Eberstadt.
