Access to more than 80,000 scores for practicing, learning and making music
The Darmstadt City Library is further expanding its digital offerings and is now making the intelligent music notation app "Enote" available to its users. Registered library patrons have unlimited access to more than 80,000 scores via the app. Around 500 new works are added weekly, selected, cataloged, and prepared by musicologists.
The current focus of the program is on classical music. The repertoire is continuously expanded to include contemporary compositions, educational materials, and current arrangements for various instruments.
“Music is lived and learned in Darmstadt. With Enote, the Darmstadt City Library provides musicians with a smart, digital sheet music library for practicing, learning and playing,” explains Holger Klötzner, Head of Education and Digital Affairs.
Requirements and use of the app
To use Enote, a valid library card from the Darmstadt City Library is required. Additionally, an Apple device with iOS version 15.0 or higher, or an Android tablet with version 8.0 or higher, is necessary.
To unlock premium access to the app free of charge, you first need to register via email or Apple ID. Then, in the "Account" section, select the "Access Now" option. Log in to your chosen library using your personal library login. Afterwards, you can also add the instruments you play to your profile.
The Darmstadt City Library provides detailed step-by-step instructions for registration on its website.
Smart features for musicians
The music notation app offers numerous additional features: Users can import their own musical pieces, arrangements, or notes as PDFs or audio recordings and link them to existing scores. Extensive filters allow for targeted searches, for example by playing time, instrument, or key.
Scores can be shared with other users and edited directly in the notation view. Markings for chords, dynamics, or repeats can be added using a finger or stylus. Automatically created shortcuts allow you to return to the desired point in the piece at any time. The feature is complemented by integrated tools such as a metronome, tuner, recording function, and annotation tools.
