367,000 active player bans registered nationwide
According to the Darmstadt Regional Council, its player exclusion system, OASIS, recorded more than 5.2 billion queries in 2025. This corresponds to an average of approximately 432 million queries per month.
The figures clearly demonstrate that the nationwide system continues to be used extensively. The responsible department, "Gambling – OASIS, Commercial Gaming," processed approximately 60,000 exclusion requests last year. The actual number of applications received was higher, as many were incomplete and could not be fully processed.
Significantly more digital applications
Since the switch to a seamless, fully digital application process for lifting player bans in 2024, the number of inquiries has risen significantly again.
Currently, around 367,000 active player bans are registered in the system nationwide. In addition, approximately 9,000 event organizers with around 41,000 venues are connected to the exclusion database.
Protection against gambling addiction
The OASIS player exclusion system, run by the Darmstadt Regional Council, is a nationwide, cross-game instrument for the protection of players and the fight against gambling addiction.
Those affected can apply for a self-exclusion or an external exclusion order at the regional government office. Upon entering an arcade, casino, or betting shop, their identity is checked against the exclusion system. If an exclusion order is registered, entry must be refused. This also applies to online gambling licensed in Germany.
