Traditional tour with 43 kilometers and summer impressions
The all-day bike ride to the barbecue of the friendly local group in Goddelau has long been a firm tradition of the Odenwaldklub (OWK) Groß-Gerau. The cycling enthusiasts set off early in the morning from the meeting points in Nauheim, Groß-Gerau, and Büttelborn.
Summer tour with nature experiences
In sunny weather, 19 participants set off. The route led through Fasanerie, Berkach, Dornheim, and Wolfskehlen to Goddelau. Along the way, large groups of storks could be observed in the fields, while summer flowers were in full bloom along the path. The "Moorlöcher" (moor holes), the marsh meadows near Büttelborn, were also on the route.
Socializing at the barbecue in Goddelau
Five OWK members had already set off by car and reserved spots in the shade of the large tent. The Goddelau Fruit and Horticultural Association's spacious grounds provided the perfect backdrop for the barbecue. There, participants were treated to grilled food with homemade salads and a selection of homemade cakes.
Return journey with stopover
After a convivial few hours, the hikers set off for home. The shorter return route led past the Seven Sisters Oak and the Weilerhof farm. A brief stop offered the opportunity to observe a large group of turkeys. At the end of the tour, the odometer showed 43 kilometers – covered under the leadership of Martin Dammel and Heinz Krohn.
