Public participation in the project “Griesheim. Inside.” runs until June 24th
The city of Griesheim is calling for active participation in the development of its city center: Since Tuesday (May 27), citizens have been able to vote online on over 40 selected proposals for the design of the city center. This participation is part of the project "Griesheim. Inside.", which is being implemented within the framework of the federal funding program "Sustainable City Centers and Town Centers".
Since 2023, more than 200 ideas for the development of Griesheim's town center have been collected through numerous participatory formats. An interdisciplinary team from the city has reviewed, further developed, and professionally evaluated these ideas over the past few months. Forty measures are now available for public voting on the participation platform.
“We are overwhelmed by the sheer number of ideas submitted. The keen interest proves that the residents of Griesheim want a vibrant city center – with regular events, attractive places to linger and, of course, the appropriate infrastructure,” emphasizes Jens Kraft, Head of the Main Office.
Vote for your favorite ideas with "onions"
The proposals range from outdoor readings at the city library and more greenery in the market square to new parking spaces for families. Citizens can express their approval by awarding so-called "onions"—the platform's voting symbol.
The results of the online participation will serve as a snapshot of public opinion for city policymakers. The most frequently requested measures will then be discussed in the city council and incorporated into further planning.
Voting is possible until June 24th at:

With the project "Griesheim. Inside.", the city aims to sustainably improve the quality of life in the city center. A particular focus is on involving the public. In addition to the current online vote, there have already been several events, workshops, and brainstorming sessions – such as the "Griesheim Gets Involved" action day in June 2023.
