Citizen participation as part of the project "Griesheim. Inside." runs until June 24th
The city of Griesheim is calling for active participation in downtown development: Since Tuesday (May 27th), citizens have been able to vote for over 40 selected proposals online for the design of the city center. The participation is part of the "Griesheim." Project.
Since 2023, more than 200 ideas for the development of downtown Griesheim have been collected in numerous participation formats. An interdisciplinary team in the city has sighted, developed and evaluated them in recent months. Now 40 measures for public coordination are available on the participation platform.
"We are overwhelmed by the large number of ideas submitted. The lively interest proves: The Griesheimers want a lively downtown - with regular events, attractive locations and of course the appropriate infrastructure," emphasizes Jens Kraft, head of the main office.
With "onions" for favorite ideas votes
The suggestions range from outdoor readings at the city library to more green on the market square to new parking spaces for families. Citizens can express their approval by awarding so -called "onions" - the platform's voting symbol.
The results of the online participation serve as an opinion for urban politics. The most condemned measures should then be discussed in the city council and included in the further planning.

With the project "Griesheim. Inside." If the city wants to sustainably improve the quality of stay in the city center. A special focus is on the integration of the population. In addition to the current online vote, there have already been several events, workshops and collections of ideas-for example on the "Griesheim Take (TE)" campaign day in June 2023.
