Inclusive top-level sport at the Nordbad – Paralympic medal winners at the starting line
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Nordbad Darmstadt host a special event: The Open South German Swimming Championships will unite people with and without disabilities in the competition pool – bringing inclusive performances to southern Hesse. The competitions begin at 9:00a.m.
Stars of the Paralympics in Paris compete in Darmstadt
The focus is on the start of Maurice Wetekamat the 2024 Paris Paralympics bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke (SB9) . The 22-year-old exceptional athlete will compete again in this event in Darmstadt (event 16) – his performance is considered one of the highlights of the day.
Also prominently represented is Nora Meister, silver medalist from Paris, who 400-meter freestyle (S6) will compete
Annke Conradi, a true legend of German para-sports, will also be competing for Team Bavaria. The multiple Paralympic medalist has stood for inclusion, fairness, and performance for decades – and is a great role model for many up-and-coming talents.
Inclusion meets elite youth sports
Alongside well-known names, numerous up-and-coming athletes compete, using the event to assess their performance at the national level . The event is organized by DSW 1912 Darmstadt and TSG Darmstadt – with the clear goal of making inclusion in competitive sports visible.
Spectators can expect a day full of top sporting performances, emotional moments and a strong statement for parasport in the region.
