On September 27th and 28th, nearly 80 studios, workshops and art gardens will open their doors
On September 27th and 28th, 2025, southern Hesse will once again be hosting "Experience Creativity Up Close" : For the 28th time, nearly 80 studios, workshops, and art gardens in Darmstadt and the surrounding districts of Bergstraße, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Groß-Gerau, Offenbach, and Odenwald will open their doors. Visitors can observe artists at work, engage in conversation, and witness creative processes firsthand.
The spectrum ranges from painting, drawing, and sculpture to photography, ceramics, glass objects, jewelry, textile art, installations, and mixed media . Many studios offer workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. The program is complemented by live music, readings, and culinary offerings.
Diverse impressions in all regions
- Bergstrasse: Art Headcraft in Heppenheim presents expressive paintings in a historic villa. The A-11 shared studio in Gorxheimertal combines painting, sculpture, and photography with readings and refreshments.
- Darmstadt-Dieburg: In Groß-Umstadt, the Galerie im Hof invites visitors to the Schmunzelkabinett (Cabinet of Smiles) , while in Ober-Ramstadt, guests can try out traditional weaving and spinning techniques with Kathleen Fritz.
- Groß-Gerau: Isolde's creative studio in Nauheim combines acrylic and oil painting with live Irish music. Atelier Eva in Rüsselsheim showcases experimental painting techniques in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media.
- Offenbach: At the BlueArt studio in Obertshausen, modern painting meets live music and interactive activities. At Thomi's Betoncafé in Dietzenbach, the creation of sculptures is vividly demonstrated.
- Odenwaldkreis: The Atelierhaus am Bach by Markus Eck in Reichelsheim and the Atelier Thiel/Will in Brombachtal offer painting, sculptures, readings and improvised music.
- Darmstadt: In Margot Lorenz's textile workshop, the focus is on upcycling and repair techniques, while Sehriban Köksal Kurt shows paper objects and installations in the studio garden.
