Michael Siebel: “An enrichment for the creative quarter in the west of the city”
The construction of the visitor center for the Mathildenhöhe World Heritage Site necessitates the relocation of the East Slope Initiative. The search for a new location now appears to have found a solution: The city of Darmstadt has proposed a plot of land in the Pallaswiesen and Morneweg district (PaMo) as an alternative.
The SPD parliamentary group in Darmstadt expressly welcomes this proposal. Group chairman Michael Siebel emphasizes the opportunities for the district: "We welcome the city's proposal to give the Osthang initiative a new home next to the art depot. The district is exciting and has enormous development potential."
PaMo district as a creative hotspot
The Pallaswiesen and Morneweg districts Several cultural institutions and event venues already exist there , including:
- The engine factory and the House of Industrial Culture in Kirschenallee
- The cultural depot on Mainzer Straße
- The Weststadtcafé , an established meeting place with a special charm.
Based on the “Round Table Culture”, the guiding principle “PaMo Creative Lab” developed, which is intended to promote the further cultural development of the district.
The SPD hopes the plans will be realized
The SPD sees the establishment of the Osthanginitiative (East Slope Initiative) as a valuable addition to the emerging cultural quarter in western Darmstadt . "It would give the development a significant boost. I hope that concerns and reservations can still be addressed," said Siebel.
