Hiking in the Palatinate with views, floral splendor and sunshine
The Odenwald Club Groß-Gerau enjoyed perfect weather on the Almond Blossom Trail between Deidesheim and Gimmeldingen over the weekend. The Palatinate region welcomed the hiking group with brilliant sunshine, and they were greeted on the bus by their guides, Sigrid and Richard Engel, with a small sweet treat and a refreshing drink.
The hike began in the tranquil town of Deidesheim, where the participants split into two groups. After a joint start in the vineyards, the paths diverged: Group 1 hiked uphill on narrow trails into the forest, while Group 2 chose a more comfortable route.
A particular highlight was the view from the "Pfälzerblick" , which offered a sweeping panorama of the region. Along the way, there were a few minor obstacles to overcome before a rest stop at the idyllic Klausen Chapel near Königsbach . The path then led down into the valley via numerous steps, passing the "Hasenschule" (Rabbit School) , whose charming decorations already hinted at the Easter season.
Although not all almond trees were yet in full bloom, numerous trees were already displaying their pink splendor – an impressive spring scene along the Almond Blossom Trail . The two groups met again in Gimmeldingen and concluded their tour with a joint stop at the "Winzerverein" (winegrowers' association).
Hiking coordinator Beate Bolbach thanked Sigrid and Richard Engel for the successful organization of the approximately 12-kilometer tour , which not only impressed with its diverse landscape but also with optimal conditions and a good atmosphere.
