The first hike of the year leads from Hegbachsee through the Nauheim Forest
Odenwald Club Groß-Gerau with a well-attended opening hike . A total of 66 hiking enthusiasts met at the Hegbachsee lake in Nauheim to embark on the first tour of the year.
To kick things off, hiking guide Reinhard Roth welcomed the group. Hiking coordinator Beate Bolbach also took the opportunity to mention a planned hiking trip to the Eifel region from May 14th to 18th, for which there are still places available. In addition, Ina Kohrs drew attention to the upcoming Shrove Tuesday hike on January 25th, where traditional doughnuts will also play a part.
Through the forest to the OWK clubhouse
From Hegbachsee lake in Nauheim, the route led towards the OWK clubhouse in the Nauheim Forest. A warming stop at the wooden wild boar sculptures provided a short break before hot mulled wine and orange punch were served at the clubhouse. The opportunity to catch up was eagerly used, as many participants hadn't seen each other for a long time.
Two groups, joint conclusion
The hiking group split at the OWK clubhouse. One group headed directly to the final destination, while the second group took an additional loop through the forest and along the Groß-Gerau lake shore. Both groups ended up at the Schnitzel Haus , where they all met for a final rest.
Reinhard Roth, on behalf of the other hiking guides Reiner Dietz, Andreas Grund, and Peter Jung, thanked everyone for their enthusiastic participation in the approximately eight-kilometer-long opening hike of the year. They are already looking forward to the next get-together at the traditional herring dinner on February 18th at the OWK clubhouse.
