Vulcan landscape, wandering enjoyment and animal encounters in Schotten
A four-day hiking trip led 34 women from the Odenwaldklub Groß-Gerau to the Vogelsberg -with stations around Schotten, the volcano, the Hoherodskopf and the Niddastausee. The trip offered a successful mix of nature experience, movement and community .
Vulcan exploration and view from the Altburgkopf
At the start we went to the Schotten volcano , where interactive stations informed about the geological past of the region . After a champagne reception in the Hotel Sonnenberg, Karola Kunz presented the participants a symbolic "monkey feast" - the first highlight of the social program.
On the second day, the Vulkan tour 4 through the region. The highlights were the view from the waiting , the Spiess monument and the impressive Niddastausee . The groups chose different paths - over the Altburg head , the mammoth trees or around the reservoir.
Hiking day on the Hoherodskopf
Another stage began at the Hoherodskopf . Along the "H mark" we passed a raised bog to the Niddaquelle . Then the group divided again: a part hiked towards Gackerstein , others stayed on the main path. The destination was the baptismal hut before the 765 meter high Hoherodskopf was climbed radio tower and tree top path In the evening, humorous contributions by Gisela Dietz, Edelgart Rietz and Rosel Wolk made the best atmosphere.
Financial in the Schotten bird park
On the day of departure, the group visited the Schotten bird animal park , where, among other things, lamas, meerkats, ostriches and snakes could be admired. The tropical house with freely flying gold fasans amazed. After lunch together in the hotel and a last sunbathing, the bus brought the hiking group back to Groß-Gerau.
In total, the women were around 34 kilometers . The hiking management took over Ingrid Kämmerer, Annerose Kohlhaas, Ute Rauch and Rosel Wolk .
