New times and longer parking duration – adjustment will be made gradually
The city of Darmstadt will be changing its parking management system in the Martinsviertel East (WA1), Martinsviertel West (WA2), and Johannesviertel (JO) zones in the coming weeks. Parking will now be regulated from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. instead of the previous 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. At the same time, the maximum permitted parking time will be extended from two to four hours.
The signage replacement begins this week. Afterwards, around 70 parking ticket machines will be reprogrammed and updated with new fare information.
Background of the change
The adjustment stems from a resolution passed by the city council. Several years of practical experience have necessitated a structural realignment of parking management. Among other things, the operating hours in several parking zones will be standardized.
This requires adapting and relabeling the machines and updating the supplementary sign 1042 StVO (time information with weekday restrictions) at the zone entrances.
Further implementation in the city districts
The Woogsviertel district has already been switched to the new system. Adjustments in the city center zones and in the Bessungen East and North parking zones are now being implemented gradually.
